Derby hotels to choose from, why not start the 2011 Christmas season by attending the Lights On event taking place on November 19th at the Market Place. The event is free and certain to provide a warm, holiday atmosphere. A festive parade will start from 4:15 pm and the Big (lights) Switch-on will officially take place at 6 pm. This 2011 Christmas season will feature many shows in Derby. Two notable ones are The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) and Dick Whittington and his cat. These are two Christmas shows for children that will be playing at Derby Theatre and the Great Hall, respectively. If looking for more traditional Christmas entertainment, A Christmas Carol will be showing at the Guildhall Theatre. And for more grown-up entertainment, this 2011 Christmas season adults are sure to enjoy the production of That’ll be the Day, a classic and unmissable Christmas show.
Another event you can’t miss this 2011 Christmas season in Derby is the Christmas Fayre. The Christmas Fayre will feature 20 Tudor-style chalets offering Christmas gifts and treats. It will run from the 1st until the 24th of December.
In addition to the Derby Christmas Fayre there will be a special Christmas Gift Bazaar. Known as the Don't Panic Gift Bazaar, it will be open to the public on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd.
